Hello all, I am Layne Ellen. It’s a privilege to meet each of you and I appreciate you stopping by.  In hopes that I won’t be a stranger to you, I want to tell you a few things about myself. I am a college senior studying Biotechnology. My days are filled with chemistry, lab reports, scientific literature, and an intense appreciation for the biological mechanisms of life and the Creator who designed them. Despite my primarily science-based life, I crave an outlet that taps into a different region of the brain (and the heart for that matter). I have always been drawn to literature – especially the sweetened condensed version that is Poetry. My father is a phenomenal songwriter, and has been writing as long as I can remember. In fact, some of my sweetest memories were when I fell asleep to him playing his guitar and singing downstairs as I laid in bed drifting off. It is only natural I should be drawn to the creative arts. I have also played classical piano for 14 years now, and I have a passionate love for Late-Romatic era composers and works.

Now, regarding my purpose for this blog, it is simply to share, talk, and learn about poetry. Maybe music if it seems appropriate, or books for that matter. I have no hidden intentions, only a love for verse and a desire to connect with others who have this same love and learn from them. So, grab a cup of hot coffee and a good seat, and I will do the same. Please share with me your favorite lines, techniques, poets, or thoughts on life in general. I am itching to learn from each of you, and if nothing else, I hope the verses I share  make your day just a tad more lovely.
